Hello everyone,
There are a number of things to inform you about regarding your judo club.
First of all congrats to Sensei Greg DiFranza for a gold and a silver medal at last weeks Nationals in San Diego. Great job!
Congratulations also to the 20 students receiving higher belt levels after testing on 4/24/04. I'm really proud seeing the progress that's been made, keep up the good work! For pics see very soon our website www.judojax.com.
Next year the Nationals will be in Virginia where Greg and I as well as 5-6 other Gentle Way athletes are expecting to compete.
To prepare for the 2005 Nationals, a special conditioning program called Camp Fiege will start with the new Summer schedule. Explosiveness, grip and core strength, balance and endurance will be addressed solely with exercises that are functional for judo. Gymballs, medecineballs, clubbells, sledgehammers are among the tools we will use in Camp Fiege. This will definitely not be boring, anyone can participate who has the right maturity level (competition kids and teens /adults). The limit will be 8 per session, for more info see Sensei John Fiege or call 904-349-0990.
Summer schedule: begins Saturday 5/22
Monday: Brasilian Jiu Jitsu only, 7:30 pm
Tuesday/Thursday/Friday unchanged
Saturday: 8:30-9:30 am Camp Fiege
9:30-10 am Randori adults/teens
10-10:45 am kids class 4-10 (unchanged)
We're announcing the first beach judo workout of the season (lots of fun) Thursday 6/3/04 .
Last, and much more important, our best wishes go out to Odis Reyes who served in Iraq, was wounded by grenade shrapnel and now is being treated in Washington before he can be reunited with his wife Brenda and daughter Jasmin. Odis thank you for your heroic service, defending our freedom, helping Iraqis build a free country and for being a representative that our community is proud of.
Especially for Odis,
See you on the mat!
Sensei John Fiege
